There’s something about Lowndes Grove that just works.
Maybe it’s the way the light hits the water at sunset.
Maybe it’s the trees and spanish moss framing the ceremony space.
Maybe it’s the balance between historic Charleston charm and modern celebration energy.
As a Charleston wedding videographer, I’ve had the privilege of filming several weddings at Lowndes Grove, and each one has felt completely different, even though they share the same breathtaking backdrop.
What I love most about filming here isn’t just the scenery (although it’s stunning), it’s how this venue gives couples space to be fully themselves. The beauty is there, but it never overshadows the people.
Below are four Lowndes Grove weddings that perfectly capture that authenticity.
Steph + Phil | Just Being Themselves
Stephanie and Phil’s wedding was proof that you don’t need every bell and whistle to create something meaningful.
No day-of drone shots.
No over-the-top production.
Just me as the videographer and two people being completely themselves.
The film feels effortless, natural moments of what happened in real time. The kind of wedding that reminds you why storytelling matters more than trends with a wedding video.
###
Olivia + Tom | Church Ceremony, Lowndes Celebration
Olivia and Tom were married at a nearby church before bringing everyone to Lowndes Grove to celebrate in style
And what a celebration it was.
The contrast between the traditional church ceremony and the elegant waterfront reception made their film feel layered and dynamic. Their reception at Lowndes Grove had the classic Charleston sophistication, refined, joyful, and full of energy.
From the heartfelt toasts to a packed dance floor, this one flows beautifully from beginning to end.
Lowndes Grove gave them the perfect setting to shift from sacred ceremony to full-on celebration.
###
Rachel + Scott | A Six-Minute Movie That Feels Like Two Hours
Some Weddings just have that cinematic quality.
Rachel and Scott’s day had so many moments, reactions, off-cuff comments (by the bride, wink wink), laughter, connection, that the final six-minute film feels like you’ve watched an entire feature-length story.
It’s nonstop fun, but still all class.
Lowndes Grove truly shines here. The outdoor ceremony, the birds chirping, the waterfront portraits, the golden hour glow, every element compliments the authenticity of Rachel and Scott and the people who showed up for them.
This is one of those weddings where you can feel the emotion in every frame.
###
Aly + Nicholas | Private Couple With a Party Side
Aly and Nicholas brought a playful energy to their wedding day that made filming them so easy.
The decor, like most Lowndes weddings, was GORGEOUS! So many subtle smiles, spontaneous reactions, and natural reactions between family and friends.
Lowndes Grove provided the elegance.
They brought the personality.
The combination is what makes this venue so special. It elevates the experience without ever making it feel staged.
###
Why I Love Filming at Lowndes Grove
Across all four of these weddings, there’s one thing in common:
Authenticity.
Not posed.
Not forced.
Not overly produced.
Just real people surrounded by family and friends, celebrating one of the biggest days of their lives in one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Charleston, South Carolina.
As someone who specializes in Charleston wedding videography, Lowndes Grove continues to be one of my favorite venues to film because it allows couples to shine while offering that classic waterfront backdrop Charleston is known for.
If you’re planning a wedding at Lowndes Grove, or exploring wedding venues in Charleston, I’d love to have the opportunity to tell your story in a way that feels natural, emotional, and completely true to you.
